Description
A spring lever machine: you pull the lever to load a spring, and the spring drives water through the coffee on a falling pressure curve that starts near 9 bar and tapers to about 5. There is no pump, so the only noise is the boiler.
The 1.2 litre boiler is copper and the case is stainless, with a copper-plated group cap and lever collar. It runs a 51 mm basket, which suits a 14 g dose rather than the 18 g most pump machines want.
The falling curve is forgiving with light roasts and flatters older beans. Expect a 30 second pull once you have found the grind, and the lever will tell you what the coffee is doing in a way a pressure gauge never quite does.
There are no electronics beyond a thermostat, which is the point. The serviceable parts are a group seal, a spring and a piston, and all three are stocked. Descale on the same schedule as any brass and copper boiler.
