Description
A stiff natural-bristle brush cut for grinder work: a 20 mm round head for the burr chamber and a flat 45 mm head at the other end for the chute and the catch cup. Beech handle, 190 mm overall.
The bristles are boar hair, which holds its shape against a steel burr where nylon splays out after a few months. Boar hair also carries a static charge that lifts fines out of the threads instead of pushing them further in.
Use it dry. Water turns coffee dust into a paste that sets in the burr carrier, and any moisture left in the chamber will rust a steel burr set. A weekly brush-out is enough for most home grinders.
Rinse the brush itself under warm water once a month, shake it out, and stand it bristles-down until it is dry before it goes back in the drawer.
