Description
A storage jar for opened bags: a glass body, a steel lid and a silicone gasket that seals when you turn the collar. The valve in the lid lets the carbon dioxide a fresh roast gives off escape without letting air back in, which is the part a clip on the bag cannot do.
Coffee goes stale from oxygen and light long before it goes stale from time. Keep the jar in a cupboard rather than on the counter beside the window, and a bag opened on Monday still brews like itself on Sunday. The lid dates itself too — the dial on top turns to the day you opened the bag, so nobody in the house has to guess.
Dishwasher-safe body, hand wash for the lid; the gasket lifts out with a fingernail when it needs a rinse. Do not keep beans and ground coffee in the same jar — the grounds settle into the seal and the smell stays.
