Description
A plain glass carafe for the brew that is finished but not yet drunk. Hand-blown borosilicate, thin at the lip and heavier at the base, so it stands steady on a tray and takes hot coffee into a cold body without complaint.
It holds a litre to the neck, which is two full pour-overs or the whole of a large press. The lip is rolled outward and cut clean, so the last of the pour breaks off at the glass instead of running down the side.
The lid is natural cork with a silicone seal. It keeps the aroma in and the coffee hot for around half an hour without cooking it on a hotplate. Lift it off and let a fresh brew breathe for a minute before you pour.
Dishwasher safe apart from the cork, which wants a rinse and a night on the rack. Not for direct heat, and not for the hob.
