Description
A hardened stainless conical burr set for 40 mm hand grinders, sold with the retaining ring, two screws and a spare shim. Burrs are consumables: a grinder that sees two doses a day loses its bite somewhere past 500 kilograms of coffee, and the grind goes wide long before anything actually breaks.
You can hear it coming. The grinder takes longer for the same dose, shots run faster at the same setting, and the filter cup turns flat wherever you put the dial. New burrs bring back the sharp cut and the narrow spread of particle sizes.
Fitting: unscrew the handle and the adjustment nut, lift the old burr out, seat the new one on the shim, then tighten the screws lightly in a cross pattern. Ten minutes with a hex key. Grind 30 g of cheap beans afterwards to clear the machining oil.
Fits 40 mm hand grinders with a three-screw mount. Uncoated steel, silver, with the tolerance stamped on the rim.
