Description
A digital probe thermometer with a 130 mm stainless stem, reading from minus 40 to 250 °C to a tenth of a degree. It settles on a moving liquid in about three seconds, which is fast enough to check a kettle in the middle of a pour.
The stem folds back into the handle through 180 degrees and the display rotates with it, so the reading is the right way up whether you are probing down into a server or across into a milk jug.
Coffee brews well between 90 and 96 °C, and most kettles without temperature control overshoot. Knowing where yours actually sits 30 seconds off the boil is worth more than any other measurement in the kitchen.
Splash resistant rather than submersible, so wash the stem and not the handle. One CR2032 cell is supplied, and a hold button freezes the last reading.
