Description
A double-layer stainless mesh cone for size two drippers, etched rather than woven, so the holes are the same size across the whole cone and the water cannot find a fast lane down one side. It drops into a plastic or ceramic cone and sits on the rim.
The cup is different from paper: the mesh lets the oils through, so the body is heavier and the finish rounder, closer to a cafetiere than to a paper pour-over. Some fines come through with them. If you like a glassy clean cup, stay with paper.
Grind a step coarser than you would for paper and pour in slow circles, because the mesh drains faster and a fine grind will stall it. Reckon on about four minutes for 30 g of coffee.
Care: knock the grounds out, rinse from the outside in, and soak it in a cleaning solution once a fortnight. Oils build up in the mesh and go stale there before you can see them. Dishwasher safe on the top rack.
